Gulf Coast History and Background
Gulf Coast Cooperative was formed in 1998 when Kleberg County Farmers Cooperative (formed in 1944) purchased the privately owned Palo Alto Gin. Following that, GCC continued to grow with the merger with Petronilla Cooperative in 2005 and the Chapman Ranch Gin Coop in 2007. A new grain handling facility was built in 2009 on Chapman Ranch, and then another merger took place in 2010 with the Agua Dulce Cooperative. In 2021, Driscoll Grain Coop was also merged into GCC, and most recently, Gulf Coast Cooperative purchased the Corpus Christi Grain elevator by the Corpus Christi International Airport. These consolidations enable GCC to increase operational efficiencies to provide better services for our members and farmers in our area.
